Kim Zolciak has been released from the hospital following her health scare last week. On Tuesday, Sept. 23, the reality star had a transient ischemic attack, or a mini stroke, hours after her live performance on "Dancing with the Stars." After spending two days in the hospital, she was discharged on Friday following a final procedure.
In a statement given to E! News by her representative, Zolciak said, "I want to thank everyone for their love and support over the past few days. I am now home with my family, resting and taking care of my health."
Due to the incident, it was speculated that Zolciak would not be coming back to compete for the Mirror Ball trophy. Though the reality star has not confirmed whether she'll be coming back to the show this Monday, she said, "I can't express enough how much I love dancing and this whole experience, and I hope this will not be the end of dancing."
Her pro partner, Tony Dovolani, also released a statement last Friday in which he called Zolciak a "fighter." Last week, the Bravo star revealed in an Instagram post that Dovolani was by her side trying cheer her up while she was recovering in the hospital.
"It is evident how much of a fighter she is," said Dovolani. "Her humor and positivity are still shining through…We are hoping for a speedy recovery."
TMZ reported that Zolciak has not received clearance from her doctors to return to the competition. The website also reported that Dovolani has been teaching Zolciak the choreography for their Monday night performance in her hospital room.
Zolciak took to the photo sharing site last week to inform her fans of her health scare, saying that "the left side of my body went completely numb and my speech was gone." She said that it happened minutes following her arrival at her Atlanta home from Los Angeles, right after her Tuesday performance on "DWTS."
According to StrokeAssociation.org, while a transient ischemic attack (TIA) is often referred to as a mini stroke, it is characterized as a warning stroke and should be taken seriously. The website says that most TIAs last less than five minutes, and when the TIA is over, it usually causes no permanent injury to the brain.
ABC has yet to comment on Zolciak's future on the show.
