Duck Dynasty's Phil Robertson Is Critical of Both Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump, Even Though He's Backing Trump

"Duck Dynasty" star Phil Robertson has been pretty outspoken about his political opinion throughout this entire U.S. presidential campaign period. While he initially endorsed Sen. Ted Cruz's bid for the presidency, he switched to Donald Trump after Cruz backed out of the race.

When he appeared on the "Cost of Freedom" programme with Neil Cavuto on Saturday, Robertson once again discussed the presidential race. He also discussed Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton's apparent disdain towards Christians.

"You have a human being — one Hillary Clinton — that's decided... that she will get into the redeeming business...stand flat-footed and tell half of America they're irredeemable," Robertson said of Clinton's "basket of deplorables" remarks last month, according to Fox News. "Last time I checked, there's one Redeemer."

"Faith comes from hearing the message. There's no one in America who is without sin, so who's going to cast the first stone?" he asked. "Hillary needs to stay out of the redeeming business and Donald Trump needs to change his life."

Robertson was apparently referring to the leaked video showing Trump making lewd comments about women. A lot of evangelicals backed out from their support of Trump after hearing his shocking "locker room talk," but Robertson remains firm in his support for the business magnate.

"Basically, [Trump] is the type we need — he's right on immigration, he's right on beefing up the military, he's right on the Second Amendment," he said, "Issue after issue policy-wise, I'm in line with Donald Trump... none of his policies are anti-biblical."

He even said that people should be understanding of Trump because he, just like everybody else, is imperfect. Plus, Trump has apologised for his past sins, and with God on his side, Robertson is certain he will do well in the White House.

"Well, you know, [with] the lewd comments... everybody's redeemable, and there's one Redeemer —  and it's not a professional prevaricator like Hillary Clinton," he said.
