'DOOM' multiplayer modes news: 6 multiplayer modes to be launched on May 13

DOOM Bethesda

Game developer Bethesda Softworks recently revealed via a trailer video the six multiplayer modes that will come with its upcoming game, "DOOM." The fast-paced game will be out this May.

"Six modes. Countless ways to kill. Infinite ways to die. Welcome to DOOM multiplayer, which delivers fast-paced and competitive combat in brutal, blood-spattered arenas. For a deeper dive into three of the modes you'll be playing when DOOM is released on May 13," as the official description of the YouTube video says.

"DOOM" fans were also informed via a post on Twitter.

The half a dozen modes in the upcoming game include Soul Harvest, a kill-and-collect kind of game, and points come from the souls of the dead opponents.

In Freeze Tag, players are frozen instead of being killed. The first team to freeze all the members of the opposing team wins the match or, if time runs out, the group with the least number of frozen players gets the round . Teammates can thaw frozen players but this will take a few seconds, just like the healing ability of a medic.

Warpath, meanwhile, is similar to a King of the Hill mode; however, the hill is constantly moving.

The three other modes are common multiplayer modes: Team Deathmatch, a classic multiplayer mode; Clan Arena, similar to Team Deathmatch but no power ups of all sorts, just a "one-time" life for the round; and lastly, Domination, which requires a team to take hold of three capture points, as Polygon reported.

A week ago, Bethesda announced the nine unique multiplayer maps for "DOOM." They are Excavation, Infernal, Chasm, Disposal, Helix, Perdition, Sacrilegious, Heatwave and Beneath.

The developer is going to conduct a closed beta test that will start on March 31 at 10 p.m. EST and will end on April 3 at 11:59 p.m. EST. Games who pre-ordered "Wolfenstein: The New Order" are automatically included in the test.

"DOOM" will be available on May 13 for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
