Donald Trump Approval Ratings news January 2018: 40% rating the lowest in first year of any elected President

There could be worse, but it is still one of the least likely ways to make a mark on history.

United States President Donald Trump's approval rating hit 39 percent by just a hair's breadth, as shown during the latest of several polls by NBC News/Wall Street Journal on Friday.

Based on previous polls, Trump's rating is by far the lowest any incumbent President has scored during the first year of his term. While he previously scored a 42 percent approval rating from last month's polls, the most recent survey showed a 2-point drop in numbers.

The approval rating is much lower than former President Barrack Obama's 50% during the same time of his presidency.

The US President's administration has been wrapped in controversy since even before the campaign period began. Part of this is due to his questionable stance on immigration and international relations, which even put him on the spotlight very recently due to public outrage over referring to third-world countries such Haiti, El Salvador and several nations in Africa as "S—thole" countries.

The disrespectful remark earned him "persona non grata" or "unwelcome" status by the people of the Carribean, as posted by the website SF Bayview.

The five-day poll included a question that asked people to respond on how they felt about Trump's first year in office, where they could respond to either "proud," "hopeful," "scared," "angry," and "disgusted."

38 percent of the participants said that they were "disgusted" of the Trump's performance, with 24 percent said they feel "scared." 23 percent said that they are still "hopeful," and 12 and 11 percent of the people said that they were "angry" and "scared."

The NBC News/Wall Street Journal Poll was conducted on 900 adult participants, who answered the polls through landlines and mobile phones, with a plus-minus 3.3 margin for error.
