Couples who got engaged at Liverpool Cathedral are being given the chance to have their big moment immortalised with a brick in its People's Path.
Personalised bricks are being given away as part of a new competition to find the most romantic story of a proposal connected to the cathedral or its grounds.
The lucky couple will have their brick personalised and engraved with a message of their choice.
Their story will also feature in a specially-created book which will go on display in the cathedral, on the cathedral website and in the cathedral magazine.
Emma Bowes-Crook and Wayne Campbell were one of the first couples to lay their brick in the People's Path in 2012.
Their brick reads, 'Will you marry me? 14.07.11 ' The date and message signified the date of Wayne's proposal to Emma at the cathedral on the day of his own graduation there – the first time he had ever visited.
The couple are now preparing for their wedding in Florida this November.
"When we do get married, like many other couples, we will have photographs and possibly even a video. But people never really mark their engagement," says Emma.
"It was such a special day for us, a moment where everything came together – we both had our degrees and we had made the commitment to stay with each other for the rest of our lives.
"To be able to mark all this in stone at the place where it all happened is a dream come true."
The People's Path was launched in 2011 to reflect the connection between the cathedral and the lives of the people living in the Liverpool area.
All money raised from the bricks goes to the Cathedral Foundation, which helps keep the Cathedral free to visitors and supports the Cathedral's development and work in the community.
Tina Morris, fundraiser at Liverpool Cathedral said: "Over the years there have likely been hundreds of proposals in the grounds or inside our Cathedral.
"We now have more than 633 bricks in place on our path and every one of them tells a story. Whether your proposal at the cathedral was decades ago or just last week, we'd love to hear the story behind it and why you chose to propose here."
To enter the competition please email your proposal story, with as many details as possible, to andrea.young@liverpool.anglican.org by 12 noon on Monday 10 February. The winners will also be given the option to share their story with the media.
