'Destiny' Iron Banner May event will give players new weapons and armor

The Iron Banner event will officially return to "Destiny" today, Tuesday, May 9.

Bungie previously announced that the time-limited event will start at 10 a.m. Pacific Time. It will run until Tuesday, May 16, at exactly 2 a.m. Pacific Time.

According to the update, Iron Banner will finally come with a maximum supercharge for its Mayhem Clash game mode. This means players must bring their strongest abilities to be able to gather a lot of endgame loot. This includes high-powered Pulse Rifles and Machine Guns, as well as stylish Titan Armor, Hunter Armor, and Warlock Armor.

Players are also encouraged to meet up with other Guardians during the upcoming event.

"Not only does your Light count, but you'll wield it as a weapon more than you ever have in Iron Banner. Form up a dream team of Guardians and make some plans to meet up at Felwinter Peak. If you don't have one, introduce yourself," the game developer states.

Other reports reveal that players can earn rewards by completing bounties or winning various matches. All the match games will reportedly provide players up to 250 reputation points to bring them closer to the Iron Banner faction. But when they lose a match, they will receive a Medallion of Iron that will be exchanged with a bonus 150 points once they win the next time.

Upon accumulating the required Iron Banner rank, players will soon begin earning the armor and weapons during the event.

The new Iron Banner event is expected to keep players excited until the release of "Destiny 2" on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on Sept. 8.

Meanwhile, Bungie is expected to release the first gameplay footage of "Destiny 2" during its upcoming live event on Thursday, May 18. This will happen after the tentatively scheduled maintenance shutdown during the week of May 16 after the Iron Banner Mayhem Clash event.
