'Destiny 2' title, game details update: Release date, plot news revealed to gamers

"Destiny" Bungie

"Destiny" is still a relatively new game to the market, but talks are already pointing to the game's sequel, "Destiny 2."

The sequel is rumored to be launched sometime in September this year; but of course, this news has not been confirmed, and developer Bungie has not issued an official announcement regarding the matter.

Until then, fans should continue treating game details online as speculations or rumors, unless Bungie makes the announcement themselves.

Not much is known about "Destiny 2" but a post from Reddit last year revealed bits of information that fans can feast on.

The original post was deleted, but another Redditor was able to get a copy of the message and posted it again on the forums.

According to the leak originally posted on July 27, 2015, the sequel to the game will be an entirely different game, bearing the title "Destiny 2—The Shattered Suns."

As mentioned, the game is planned to be a September release. Players can still use their current characters, but the new game will also introduce Osiris, who will be the main focus of the game.

Bungie is also said to develop a new enemy. The tipster may not be certain about this piece of information, but it was stated that the enemy is possibly Ahamkara.

The tipster continued to share that the main area for the guardian to explore in the second game is Mercury.

With all the rumors surrounding the sequel's gameplay, there's also the debate on whether or not "Destiny 2" will soon be released exclusively for newer-generation consoles.

"Destiny" and the rest of its expansion packs are compatible with PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, but if the sequel will have more enhanced graphics, it's likely that owners of the aforementioned consoles may not get to enjoy the game.

According to a poll conducted by Product-Reviews, majority of people vote that "Destiny 2" should only be made for the last-generation consoles — for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Bungie still has to comment on the rumors about the game. Until then, everything should be taken with a grain of salt.
