Macbook Pro vs Dell Precision M3800: Dells 15-inch notebook packs 4k screen

PC maker Dell gives people an option to switch from their old MacBooks to the updated version of Dell Precision M3800. The 15-inch screen laptop will pack a 4K resolution.

Dell is trying to widen the gap between itself and Apple by updating its laptop. Dell took advantage of the opportunity that Apple has not carried out a major redesign in its MacBook Pro yet. While the Apple's heavy duty laptop packs the same 2,880 x 1,800 screen resolution since 2012, Dell decided to give the Precision M3800 a boost with a 4K screen or 3,840 x 2,160 pixels, which Dell practically rubbed off to Apple's face. Moreover, the Dell's screen includes a touchscreen feature.

Under the hood, the Dell Precision M3800 added a Thunderbolt 2 port and increased the maximum amount of storage to 2TB. The 2TB doubled the amount of storage offered in the previous version. Moreover, Dell offers consumers options of operating system – Linus OS and Windows OS.

What is slightly disappointing is that Dell retained the old Haswell Core i7-4712HQ quad-core processor and Nvidia Quadro K1100M graphics co-processor, since Intel already released the new generation of Broadwell CPUs.

The 4K variant with 16GB and includes a 256GB SSD costs $2,179. However, the Full HD 1080p display costs $1,649. Consumers can upgrade the Full HD screen to 4K for $70 and opt for Ubuntu that will cut $101.50 off the price. Thus, Dell is giving its buyers more options to customize their laptops.

Meanwhile, tech giant Apple is bound to update the MacBook Pro laptop soon. The Apple device is purported to pack 4K screen display with touchscreen feature, Intel's new Broadwell chipsets and USB Type-C port that will replace all ports in the laptop. The laptop is also predicted to include a TouchID fingerprint sensor and an improved TrackPad as well as a better battery capacity.
