'Daredevil' season 3 release date: Premiere in 2018; No red hair for Matt Murdock

Daredevil starring Charlie Cox Netflix

"Daredevil" season 3 has officially been confirmed by Netflix, but while the show is moving forward, it is unlikely to premiere until 2018 at the earliest. As noted by Ecumenical News, Matt Murdock (Charlie Cox) will appear first in the upcoming "Defenders" show and this will be followed by several other superhero series.

Netflix is currently busy with "Defenders," which will see Daredevil teaming up with other heroes such as Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Iron Fist (Finn Jones) and Luke Cage (Mike Colter). Once that show has premiered 2017 will also introduce the solo "Iron Fist" and "Luke Cage" series as well.

From there the third season of "Daredevil" and the second season of "Jessica Jones" will then be released which means both shows won't enter production until 2017 and won't premiere on Netflix until 2018 or 2019 depending on when the other series are launched.

When the series does come back it will feature Matt Murdock as he was last seen in season 2 and in "Defenders" which means the character will not be sporting red hair as he does in the original comic books but it won't be for a lack of trying.

During the Toronto Fan Expo (via Cinema Blend) actor Charlie Cox revealed to a fan that they did try to dye his hair red and that the look did not suit him well. Other than the change in hair color, however, Cox' portrayal of the character in the series has been very faithful to the source material.

Cox also explained that he was looking forward the most to working with Iron Fist.

"The relationship I'm most interested in seeing fleshed out is the Matt Murdock and Danny Rand stuff. I just met Finn Jones the other day and I just think in the comics, that's a great relationship so I want to see how that works out on screen," he said.
