"Criminal Minds" executive producer Erica Messer will be working on a spin-off series of the police procedural drama that focuses on an international FBI unit that deals with troubled American citizens in foreign countries.

Fans are getting a sneak peak of the upcoming series in the next installment of "Criminal Minds" aptly titled "Beyond Borders." In the episode, the BAU will be working closely with the International Unit headed by Jack Garrett to investigate the kidnapping of a family vacationing in Barbados.

Garrett will be played by "CSI: NY" alumnus Gary Sinise, who will also be the lead character in the future spin-off. Members of the International Unit also include a law expert to be played by Emmy Award winner Anna Gunn, and Special Ops Agent Matthew Simmons to be portrayed by Daniel Henney. The division will get a tech guru named Russ "Monty" Montgomery, who Tyler James Williams is set to play.

Meanwhile in "Beyond Borders," Garrett's unit will be teaming up with Hotch and his unit once they discover a link between the case at hand and the one BAU worked on in Florida last year.

"We find out that this unsub eluded Jack's team two years ago. He killed a family in Aruba and it [haunts] Jack that they weren't able to catch him," Messer shared to TV Guide. "Last year, he got away from the BAU when he killed a family in Florida and now this year, he's striking in Barbados, and we're gonna get these two teams together to finally catch this guy."

There are no worries of rivalry between the two teams as "they're all the best at their jobs." Although there's "familiarity" between the units, Messer details it will be the first time they will be working together.

Tom Everett Scott and Bonnie Somerville will also put in an appearance in the episode as Greg and Colleen Sullivan, two members of the abducted family.

"Criminal Minds" season 10 episode 18 will air on April 8.
