Conor McGregor contracts Australian flu virus

Ulitimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Lightweight king Conor McGregor is currently fighting a serious battle, but not one inside the octagon, but rather in his home.

"The Notorious" recently contracted Australian flu, which left half of his family sick. Some members were even taken to the hospital according to the fighter.

As reported by The Sun, The illness left McGregor shivering on his bed, and forced him to cancel his planned New Years eve party.

"Well that was a wild New Year's Eve," the UFC's lightweight champion said in a post on Instagram. "Half the family hit with the Australian flu virus and some even left in hospital with it."

He even joked that he was wondering how he got the Australian flu when he has never been to Australia.

"I've never even been to Australia wtf. One of the most intense few days I've gone through."

McGregor is now currently resting while the rest of the world waits for his decision whether he is going to step into the octagon once again. The Irishman recently traded barbs with UFC 219 headliner Khabib "The Eagle" Nurmagomedov, saying that the Russian's performance was sloppy.

The two fighters, along with Interim Lightweight champion Tony "El Cucuy" Ferguson, are involved in a standoff with no means to tell which fighter is fighting who. Ferguson, being the Interim champion, is technically next in line to face McGregor in a title match, but Nurmagomedov's strong display in his recent fight gives him a good bargaining chip to face the Irishman.

A matchup between Ferguson and Nurmagomedov may also take place, with the winner being the one to get the opportunity of fighting McGregor.

Also, it should be taken to consideration that the UFC is known to disregard the rankings every now and then so a different name may pop up out of nowhere if President Dana White wants.

Either way, the world will find out once McGregor recovers and makes up his mind.
