Cohabitation comes after marriage, says Bieber

Justin Bieber recently made what would be considered a rare comment coming out of Hollywood by rejecting cohabitation.

According to OK! magazine, the pop star sensation responded to a question about living with his girlfriend, Selena Gomez, saying, "I think that comes after marriage."

The comment was made Thursday during Fashion's Night Out party in New York. His statement comes as cohabitation is becoming more prevalent in the United States. According to the Census Bureau, it has nearly doubled since 1990.

Last year, the number of opposite-sex unmarried couples living together rose 13 percent from the previous year, to 7.5 million.

“Cohabitation is increasingly becoming the first co-residential union formed among young adults,” the National Center for Health Statistics said in a 2010 report.

For Bieber, he's not looking to move in with anyone unless marriage vows are said. But once he marries, he's keen to expand his family.

"[B]y 25 or 26, I want to see myself ... start looking for a family," the 17-year-old artist and self-identified Christian told Women's Wear Daily at the New York party.

"I definitely want to be married by 25," he added. "I want to be a young dad."
