Finnish game developer Supercell announced last week that they will be rolling out an update for "Clash of Clans." They are currently polishing it and are hoping that by the coming week, they will be able to let gamers catch a glimpse of the changes.
To a fan query on the "Clash of Clans" Facebook page on why there are no updates for the game, the developer replied on Saturday, "There will be one very soon. We're working on the final details and we'll be able to release some sneak peeks some time next week hopefully! Stay tuned!"
The upcoming update brings into focus the game's Clan Wars matchmaking system. This suggests that the game's current matchmaking process is unbalanced, with powerful clans being pitted against weaker groups. Such a scenario undoubtedly diminishes the enjoyment of players who have yet to strengthen their clans' offense and/or defense, and the excitement for those who have already reached a high level.
"In the coming update, a new iteration of Clan Wars matchmaking will bring a large amount of under-the-hood improvements to raise the quality of war matchups," says the announcement on the "Clash of Clans" forum posted by the developers at Supercell. "The Clan Wars matchmaking system has been overhauled with fairness of matching in mind. It aims to provide a more competitive and fun warring experience for all Clans."
The update will add what Supercell calls "team-versus-team compositional checks" in order to pinpoint and remove unbalanced pairings. Also, recent win-loss records will be a determining factor in matchups, and the progress in defense will have more weight over offensive progress. Moreover, in order to push matches that are available in other war sizes, the developer has decided to remove the 35v35 and 45v45 options.
Supercell reminds gamers that once the update goes live, they will be introducing the improvements over time while they fine-tune their servers. Thus, matchmaking might take longer than the current average of five to 20 minutes. Also, they are anticipating "more improvements to the Clan Wars experience this year."
While the developer has not given other details, there are rumors of other additions that will come with the "Clash of Clans" update. Neurogadget, referring to a leak, says that the update will introduce new troops, namely Chain Lightning, Mini P.E.K.K.A. and Rocketeer, but the Town Hall must first be upgraded to level 10.
The people behind "Clash of Clans" confirmed last month that they are, indeed, working on a new troop, although no specific details were revealed, except that "it won't be a Musketeer from Clash Royale."
The Christian Times, meanwhile, reported a rumor of a gem mine being part of the update, as well as changes to the game's hero system.
The "Clash of Clans" development team has not given the specific date when the update will go live.
