Church Army Evangelist Brings Music to the Book of Psalms

A brand-new production from the Church Army is opening new ground to proclaim the text in the Bible in a more attractive way. Evangelist Frank McGregor introduced a new CD entitled "Psalm", which sets the words and poetry of the RSV version of twelve Psalms to music.

Macgregor shared his inspiration, "I thought of ways to help raise funds for the Gospel Rocky Theatre Company which I run for Church Army, and I thought about the little boy who offered his five loaves and two fishes. What did I have to give to Jesus?"

Macgregor recalled passages of the RSV bible that he used to sing when he first became a Christian. He then got the idea to record these songs to share with many people.

The Church Army evangelist Macgregor is also a talented musician and songwriter. He is now the Director of the Gospel Rocky Theatre Company. Together with Paul Critchley, a worship leader at Burslem Methodist Mission, he has produced this CD "Psalm" in his loft studio.

Macgregor reported that the music has already proved an inspiration to people. One lady was playing tracks during her quiet times. She wrote, "Thank you for the ‘Psalm’ CD. It has been, and continues to be, a real blessing. To have God's Word put to music in this way is lovely ... I pray that this CD will be really used of the Lord in the coming days, His timing is always perfect."

Following the success of this CD, Macgregor has already started working on another dramatic 90 minute presentation of Psalm especially for use in churches. It is expected to be released by the end of the year.

A new show for Gospel Rocky - Gospel Rocky and the Rocky Kids in Space - is under way. Gospel Rocky and the Rocky Kids have been touring the UK for the past 5 years with their hugely popular show "A Reason to Celebrate!".

The sample tracks of "Psalm" are now available online at www.gospelrocky.co.uk/supporters.html. The CD is available for a minimum donation to Church Army of £12.

The Church Army, a society of evangelists with the Anglican Communion founded in 1882, has been at the heart of evangelism in England. Spearheaded in the Mission-shaped Church report of the Church of England a year ago, the Church Army has been developing many outreach projects to explore a fresh expression of church and to re-evangelise the country.
