Christians Begin Non-Stop Prayer and Fasting for London

|PIC1|The organisers of the Global Day of Prayer London have announced that throughout the month of May intercessors will form an "unbroken chain" of prayer and fasting leading up to Pentecost.

"The fasting will be totally hidden from public view but will impact the visible logistical planning and systems necessary to have a divinely successful Global Day of Prayer in London," said event organisers.

On Pentecost Sunday, 27 May 2007, tens of thousands of Christians from all denominations will gather at West Ham United FC to worship and pray for the capital.

The fasting chain will be geared specifically towards the successful preparation and execution of the event, and will operate parallel to the 24-hour prayer chain 'A Year for London', already in operation since 1 January 2007, which is running a continuous chain of prayer for London until 31 December 2007.

Pastor Jonathan Oloyede, the originator of the 27 May stadium event, has said: "I have sensed for a while that we would need to fast and intensify our prayers all the way up to Pentecost Sunday and beyond it."

Some of the UK's leading intercessors will join in the fasting movement, including Jane Holloway, Julie Anderson, Brenda Taylor, Kate Jinadu, Faith Foster and Sally Rykard among others.

Many of the leading prayer networks within the UK will take part in the spiritual walk up to the event, which promises to be unlike anything else the capital has seen.

Oloyede has called for Christians across London and the UK to join the fasting chain to help build up momentum to the largest prayer event of its kind ever to take place in Britain: "Let us all pray that prayer will saturate the church and spill over into the whole nation Great Britain."
