Christian televangelist: Humans coexisted with dinosaurs just thousands of years ago

In schools nowadays, schoolchildren are being taught that dinosaurs existed before human beings some 231 million years ago.

Citing the Holy Bible, Christian televangelist Pastor Brad Shockley sought to counter what he described as the "evolutionary" view of dinosaurs. These huge reptiles, according to him, did not predate mankind, but actually coexisted with human beings.

During Sunday's broadcast of "Let the Bible Speak," the prominent televangelist spoke on how the media is "rarely" crediting the creationist view of the dinosaurs.

Shockley maintained that based on the Holy Bible's Book of Genesis, dinosaurs were created either on the fifth or sixth day of Creation, when beasts of the water and land were created by God.

"We often have a difficult time convincing others this is the proper explanation," the pastor said, as quoted by RawStory.com.

"The creationist accepts the teaching of Genesis and teaches that dinosaurs were created on day 5 [and] day 6," he added.

While admitting that the word "dinosaur" was never mentioned anywhere in the Scriptures, Shockley pointed to the Book of Job, also in the Old Testament, to further prove that dinosaurs once walked the Earth together with human beings.

He said a fire-breathing dinosaur or a "dragon" was described in the Book of Job. He even said all of these happened "approximately 6,000 years ago"—way later than the estimates of archaeologists.

"The truth is, dinosaurs should be used as the poster child for creationism," the televangelist said. "And we have no problem harmonising our faith with the Bible explanation of dinosaurs."

Shockley further said that schools should stop "indoctrinating" children through lessons on science and evolution.

"Realising mom and dad couldn't not defend their religious beliefs, they ignorantly stumble into believing the theories of evolution and abandon their faith," the pastor said.

"Evolutionary doctrine on dinosaurs denies the Bible, creation, the existence of God and, by default, ultimately denies Jesus Christ is the son of God and our redeemer," he added.
