Christian parents print 'Our God is Bigger' shirts to protest removal of Bible verse from school's website

Christian parents have launched a T-shirt campaign in response to the removal of a Bible verse from a school website following complaints by atheists.

According to a report by Raw Story, parents of Christian children studying at the Troup Independent School District have started printing up T-shirts bearing the statement "Our God is Bigger" after the school was compelled to remove the phrase "As Goliath moved closer to attack, David quickly ran out to meet him," from the school's website. The phrase was a Bible passage from the Old Testament.

"I know that lots of hands are tied, but as parents and students our hands are not. We can take something that was meant to stand against God and use it for His glory by getting our kids involved in taking a stand for God and exercising our freedom to actively praise and worship Him," one of the parents, Cindy Carnes posted on her Facebook account.

The shirts are being sold at $7 each.

In a report by Tyler Morning Telegraph, another parent, Brittany Taylor, said that they are not upset at the school for having to take down the verse. She said that they are actually doing the drive to stand by their principles and to support the school.

"We support our school fully, they kind of had their hands tied in the situation. We wanted to fight back for them," she said.

Meanwhile, the Freedom from Religion Foundation (FFRF), the group that submitted the complaint to take down the verse from the school website for promoting Christianity, said they are also fighting to uphold the federal constitution that specifically states that schools should not endorse any form of religion.

"Under the federal constitution, a government entity like a school district can't endorse one religious belief over others or religion generally over non religion," Sam Grover, an attorney for the FFRF said.
