Christian Charity Brings Hope to Orphans on Chinese New Year

Christian charity International China Concern is bringing hope to abandoned Chinese children who are unable to celebrate Chinese New Year.

As a sixth of the world's population prepares to celebrate the Chinese New Year on 18 February 18, the charity will provide kids with new clothes to wear on New Year's Day, and prepare traditional dumplings (jiao zi) and other dishes with their carers.

Above all, the charity will assure that the children in their care know that they are loved and valued.

International China Concern has worked with China's abandoned and disabled since 1993, caring for over 200 children and young adults with disabilities. Based in Hunan Province, they not only provide disability services and homes for life but also provide vocational training, foster care and social welfare training for Chinese nationals.

Ten years ago Sun Ping, who has an ageing disease, was fighting for food and for survival. Today, at 19 years old, he is realising his dreams working as a therapy assistant with the charity, caring for those less able.
