Christian and Buddhist Children to Learn Way of Peace

Manchester Cathedral and the Manchester Buddhist Centre have been awarded a £2000 grant to support a peace initiative for local schools.

The 'Place of Peace' tour is an educational trail for school groups which offers pupils the chance to visit Manchester Cathedral and Manchester Buddhist Centre and consider what is meant by a place of peace.

Through this activity, pupils have the opportunity to explore contrasting places of worship and reflect upon religious attitudes towards peace and justice.

Pam Elliott, Education Officer at the Cathedral, said: "I am absolutely delighted that the Department for Communities and Local Government has recognised the value of this educational activity for school children."
