Charlotte Hornets updates: Al Jefferson seeking redemption

 Wikipedia

The Charlotte Hornets were unable to repeat their NBA playoff performance and many believe it would have been different if Al Jefferson was healthy throughout the season.

Though that could be up for debate, considering the Hornets aren't actually title-contenders, the fact remains that a healthy Jefferson could have at least made the chances better.

Considering the Hornets finished the season 33-49, who knows if they could have turned that into something positive or even. Jefferson was hit by injuries but nevertheless believes he could have given more. And believing that he can do better, Jefferson will get one more chance to prove his difference.

Jefferson is not expected to opt out and hopefully if he stays healthy, can provide a repeat performance of their previous playoff appearance. But making that happen does not solely fall on Jefferson's shoulders alone.

The team needs to provide help for Big Al. Kemba Walker is there but apparently the Hornets need more help from the wings as well as help upfront, bangers and role players who don't shy away from doing the dirty work (hustle and rebound).

Last season, Jefferson averaged 16.6 points and 8.4 rebounds, a far cry from his performance of 21.8 points and 10.8 rebounds in 2013-14. Apparently his irregular appearance on the court due to injuries played a vital part on why this came to be.

And now, Jefferson considers it a challenge in what he terms as unfinished business. He has made it known he will not opt out. Jefferson is on a mission and that includes at least duplicating their previous playoff stint.

With that said, the Hornets have lesser things to worry about like losing a big man in the caliber of Al Jefferson. With a lot of time to recuperate, here is hoping that Jefferson does stay healthy and recall his old form.
