'Burnout Paradise' HD remaster PS4 release date news: Classic racing game remake available on March, but only in Japan

"Burnout Paradise" is one of the best open-world racing games released the past decade. Developer Electronic Arts (EA) recently announced that the classic game will be getting a high-definition (HD) remaster.

It was confirmed that the "Burnout Paradise" HD remaster will be available only in Japan. However, fans cannot help but hope that the game will have a North American release, as well.

The remake will be developed for the PlayStation 4 and will be released for the Japanese markets on March 16, 2018. It will cost  ¥4,104 (which converts to US$36.00).

A Brazilian news outlet called GamePress was the first to speculate about a "Burnout Paradise" HD remaster. Some details in their initial report were really close to what EA announced, if not accurate.

First, the site speculated that the classic racing game will be remade for the PlayStation 4 and the Xbox One.

It turned out that the Playstation 4 is indeed the platform confirmed for the game, although there are no announcements yet for an Xbox One release.

The site also predicted that the game will be released on March 1, 2018. While the date is off, it is pretty close to the actual release date of March 16.

They also thought that the game will be priced around R$149.90 which amounts to about US$45.00. This is close to the game's actual price of ¥4,104 (although the estimated price for the North American release is expected to be around $39.99).

"Burnout Paradise" was the fifth installment in the "Burnout" series of racing games. While it got very good reviews, the game is not without its flaws. For instance, the "open world" still feels too restricting. Hopefully, modern standards can improve that aspect of the game.

In any case, the "Burnout Paradise HD" remake will be a good way for EA to test the waters. If the game proves to be a success, remaster of the other "Burnout" games may come next.
