Brainstorming never ends for the brothers behind For King & Country

The creative juices of the brothers Luke and Joel Smallbone from the Christian duo For King & Country just seem to flow endlessly, and they revealed that it's the reason why they're able to give highly entertaining performances during concerts.

"Brain storming never ends," Luke told Breathe Cast in an interview. "A lot of times what happens is when somebody makes a mistake, that's actually what actually sparks something like 'Well what if we were to do that, what if we were to do this?'"

The brothers do not want to be complacent with their music or performances, and that is why they always come up with ideas on how to improve themselves.

"At the end of the day it's constant. After every show we think about what can we do to make it a little bit better and that hopefully pays off," said Luke.

One of their most recent performances was with Reach Records rapper KB. They performed the song "Run Wild Live Free Love Strong" replete with flashing lights, streamers, megaphones, shadows, and sheets. To describe the performance, Luke had but one thing to say: "It was nuts!"

The song came from the brothers' latest album called "Run Wild. Live Free. Love Strong." It was actually inspired by two big events in their lives: Joel's marriage and a severe illness that threatened Luke's life.

"Those themes of love and hardship – physically, mentally, spiritually – are sort of laced into the record," Joel shared with Arkansas Online.

The brothers have grown up with a deep appreciation for music, especially since their father was a concert promoter in Australia. They would pitch in by offering their services as stage managers or lighting directors, and it did not take long before they learned how to play music themselves.

"That's when we finally learned the craft of music but fell in love with the art and the heart of music," said Luke.
