Boxing news 2015: Amir Khan interested in fighting Keith Thurman

Undefeated WBA welterweight champion Keith Thurman will be defending his title against challenger Luis Collazo on July 11 and if he wins, British boxer Amir Khan is willing to be his next opponent.

Khan defeated Chris Algieri last May and ever since the fight has been expressing his desire to take on the world's top pound-for-pound boxer Floyd Mayweather Jr., but his campaign is slowly turning into a bust.

Mayweather, who plans to have his last fight this September, already mentioned two possible opponents, and Khan was not one of them.

Khan, 28, said days after the Algieri bout that he believed a fight against Mayweather was close to being announced, but it seemed likely that he would be denied for the fourth time.

Now the WBC Silver Welterweight champion is focusing on other possible opponents and is interested in fighting Thurman, who also wants to take on Mayweather.

"I would definitely be interested in a fight with Thurman if he wins. I've never ducked any fighter, and a fight with Thurman is one I would certainly be open to. He's undefeated and we have two explosive styles, so it would be a cracking fight and one not to miss," Khan told Boxingnewsonline.net.

Thurman's challenger for the title, Collazo, was already beaten by Khan via unanimous decision last year. In the report by Boxingnewsonline.net, Khan also shared his thoughts on Thurman's campaign to fight Mayweather.

"We've seen Mayweather in with guys who can punch like Marcos Maidana and [Saul] Canelo Alvarez and handle them, so I think the public want to see something different. Styles make fights, and Floyd has seen Thurman's style before," Khan shared.

Khan also expressed his willingness to face Manny Pacquiao, his former stable and sparing mate under trainer Freddie Roach,  but said the Filipino must man up if he wanted a bout against him.
