'Bloodborne' DLC expansion news; what to expect

Fans of the epic role playing game "Bloodborne" are already getting excited with the news that their favorite game will be getting an expansion. The announcement was made by no less than the president of Sony's Worldwide Studies, Shuhei Yoshida.

According to Yoshida, the developer of the hit and hugely popular RPG, From Software, is currently working on an expansion for their "Bloodborne" title.

Yoshida made the announcement on Twitter, saying, "So I have been asked by many people if we are making DLC for Bloodborne. I can say... An expansion is coming. More info later this year."

This is the first time that the announcement was made official, although rumors have already been running rampant. When "Bloodborne" was released early this year, fans who got hooked to the game were already speculating that what the title would need to fuel excitement and prolong player interest is a major expansion.

It seems that Sony is listening to the demands of its hardcore fans.

Most observers note that coming up with an expansion for a major title like "Bloodborne" is no surprise. As a Sony exclusive, the title is up against numerous role-playing games with a hard difficulty niche, especially with the recent release of "The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt." In addition, From Software and Sony need to constantly evolve the game to keep "Bloodborne" players interested and fuel the success brought by its release last March. The title is so successful that even Sony U.K.'s Fergal Gara was astounded.

In a recent interview with MCV UK, Gara said, "It did surprise us. We had expectations to do well. We looked at the Souls series as a frame of reference, and we thought we could do better than that. We did — and then some. Relative to some of our sister territories, we were being quite ambitious, but even that proved to be conservative."

Sony promises that more details will be coming out later this year about the expansion.
