BlackBerry 10 Slider handset to be released at MWC 2015?

BlackBerry Classic BlackBerry

There are whispers that the BlackBerry 10 with a slider feature will be announced at the Mobile World Congress in March. Rumors about the BlackBerry 10 Slider went around when the original BlackBerry 10 was released.

Reports say that the BB10 Slider has been nicknamed "Milan" or "M-Series." However, it seems that the project was put on the backburner. The continuation of the project or its release was delayed indefinitely.

One of the speculated reasons why the smartphone was not released has something to do with the thickness of the handset. The addition of the slider feature adds to the overall thickness of the smartphone. This could pose a problem since most devices in the market are now going for a thinner profile. The details of the smartphone like the specs and features are still kept under wraps.

Meanwhile, BlackBerry CEO John Chen said that the company will unveil a unique concept device at the MWC. However, he did not spill any details.

To add fuel to the fire, a patent from BlackBerry emerged online. It was filed on June 14, 2012, so the patent is not entirely new. It also shows a smartphone with an ornamental design for its unique concealable keyboard.

Late last month, BlackBerry brought back the famous look of the BlackBerry smartphone complete with QWERTY keypad and trackpad. This is perfect for people who prefer using a physical keyboard, which is absent in current smartphones.

BlackBerry was once on top of the mobile market when it released phones heavily favored by business professionals. Now, it is reclaiming its fame by releasing smartphones that target business professionals. BlackBerry tries to attract its old clients. With this strategy, BlackBerry is trying to ramp up the sales to rake in more profit to salvage its dwindling business.

Meanwhile, BlackBerry offers no comment regarding its roadmap and the devices they intend to unveil this year.
