Bible League Introduces "Project Philip for Children"

In Latin America where over 50 percent of the population is under the age of 18, it is clear to see the desperate need to develop children's materials to build up their faith since they are young and at a very influential age..

Recently, The Bible League volunteers resorted to using booklets written for adults in reaching children. A new children's Bible study program will be introduced soon throughout Mexico and other Latin American countries which has delighted many Latin American children.

"There has not been a widespread program of evangelism and discipleship for children in Latin America, it is an unprecedented step in reaching Spanish-speaking children." says the Director of Latin America Ministries this program. Currently the Bible League has ministry in Colombia, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Mexico, Nicaragua, Puerto Rico, Venezuela, and among U.S. Hispanics. Materials and Bibles for children will arrive in each of these countries in the coming months.

The specialty of this program is that it is written and designed by Christians from Latin America, but not a Spanish translation of material that originated in English. The pictures and activities scattered throughout the Bible study booklets are unique to the culture of the children they are intended to reach.

This new program, called Project Philip for Children will not only teach kids the principles of the Bible, but also the methods to share God's love with other children. Each child who completes these studies will have his own copy of God's Word to take home and cherish for a lifetime.

Project Philip is based on the Acts chapter 8 story of Philip and the Ethiopian, when Philip asked the travelling Ethiopian if he understood the Scripture he was reading. The Ethiopian admitted he could not understand unless someone explained it to him. So Philip climbed into the chariot, sat with the Ethiopian and helped him understand. Following his example, the Bible League trains "Philips" around the world to lead Bible studies, thereby helping people understand God's Word.

Last year alone, more than 400,000 Latin Americans completed Project Philip Bible studies led by local Bible League-trained Christians. In total, the Bible League trained almost a quarter of a million "Philips", who have in turn led nearly two million people through Bible study.
