'Battlefield 5' release date: Game to arrive sometime in fall with more military-style action

"Battlefield 5's" release date is still unknown to many at this point.

Early this month, Electronic Arts Digital Illusions Creative Entertainment's (EA DICE) Randy Evans took to Twitter to tease fans that "A BIG trailer" is coming. With Evans' announcement, a lot of fans were excited enough to speculate that "Battlefield 5's" release date will finally be revealed. However, to their dismay, there wasn't any news about the first-person shooter game. It turned out that the big announcement was about another popular EA DICE game, "Mirror's Edge Catalyst."

It's still a waiting game for the fans since news of an exact release date has not been announced, but the game should arrive sometime this year, specifically in fall, according to EA.

Back in 2014, the company confirmed that the game won't be arriving until late this year. This was further confirmed by EA CFO Blake Jorgensen who also said that the game is being transformed into a "fun, new Battlefield," GameSpot reported.

It's easy to assume that EA is not ready to release the next "Battlefield" game just yet because the company needs more time to spend on a big, popular game.

According to a report from GameSpot, EA CEO Andrew Wilson also said at a conference call with EA investors in 2014 that the team only wanted more time for "Battlefield 4" and "Battlefield Hardline" players to explore the current games before releasing a new one. "We want to give Battlefield 4 and Battlefield Hardline players more time to enjoy these games and immerse themselves in a game, the live service, and the community," Wilson explained.

Details about "Battlefield 5" have been scarce, but Jorgensen revealed that the game will make its comeback as a "military-style game" and fans should expect the game to focus more on that.

In addition, DICE producer Patrick Bach revealed in a 2013 interview with The New York Times that the next game will have "More features. More extras. More destruction."

It's definitely something fans should look forward to.
