"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is the biggest and most-awaited DC Comics movie adaptation in the pipeline. It's not happening until 2016 but Warner Bros. CEO Kevin Tsujihara forecasts that the superhero duo will easily take on Marvel crime-fighters when it comes to crashing the silver screen.
"The worlds of DC are very different," Tsujihara said during the Morgan Stanley Technology Media & Telecom Conference, as quoted by Variety. "They're steeped in realism and they're a little bit edgier than Marvel's movies."
While its biggest competition sticks with two films per year, Tsujihara revealed that Warner Bros. will bring up to six DC movies to the big screen.
The DC Cinematic Multiverse is being poised to body-slam that of Marvel's, which is undoubtedly successful in reeling in multitudes of moviegoers with its well-crafted movie adaptations. But Warner Bros. is prepared to take that head on. "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is more than just the Caped Crusader and the Man of Steel. There is a band of superheroes and supervillains who will be seen in action in the 2016 film as well. There is Aquaman and Wonder Woman. Then there's Lex Luthor as another baddie.
But that is not explosive enough for Warner Bros. The massive film is only just beginning of the long line of DC movies set to pepper theaters. A flick of what looks like a beasty and an orange and green-free Aquaman is on the cards. It also has a movie about The Flash on the horizon and even Green Lantern.
Warner Bros. will also introduce the supervillain squadron known as Suicide Squad to the silver screen. After that will be the perfect time for the hotly-anticipated "The Justice League" film to emerge. That film will unite Superman, Batman, Aquaman, The Flash, Cyborg, Wonder Woman and possibly Green Lantern.
While Tsujihara takes pride in the upcoming DC Comics-related projects of the studio, Marvel seems to have retorted on his claims but with Samuel L. Jackson holding the gun.
"I think Marvel has figured out a way to make those movies accessible to the public that DC hasn't," the actor, who plays Nick Fury in "Avengers" movies, told MTV. "I don't know what that is. I don't know why you can't get Batman and Superman people as juiced up to be a part of that."
Indeed, the rivalry is heating up.
"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" will be out March 25, 2016. The movie stars Henry Cavill as Superman and Ben Affleck as Batman.
