Avril Lavigne asks fans to keep her in their prayers as she struggles with ill health

Pop star Avril Lavigne has revealed that she is experiencing health problems.

The 30-year-old Canadian singer has been absent from the public eye since September. She reportedly sent a private Twitter message to @AvrilMusicChart, wherein she mentioned having health issues which have yet to be disclosed.

The Twitter handle "Avril Lavigne Charts" shared a screenshot of the direct message conversation. A representative for Lavigne has confirmed to Us Weekly magazine that the exchange is authentic.

The screenshot shows the fan's message that started the conversation.

"Hey Av! It's been like two years since you completed your last album. Are you in the studio right now or working for something? We were worried about you," the fan wrote.

Lavigne replied the next day.

"I feel bad because I haven't been able to say anything to the fans to let them [know] why I've been absent. I'm torn as I'm quite private."

The punk rock singer added, "I'm not feeling well. I'm having some health issues. So please keep me in your prayers."

The fan then sent words of support and told the singer that her fans miss her.

"Thank you... I miss you guys, too," Lavigne wrote.

Since being made public, the exchange had fans of the "Sk8er Boi" and "Complicated" singer posting well wishes with the hashtags #PrayforAvril and #GetWellSoonAvril.

On Sunday, Lavigne took to Twitter again to say a simple thank you to her fans.

While Lavigne's health struggles remain unknown to the public, her representative has assured fans that the singer, who is married to Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger, is not pregnant. However, Billboard associate editor Jason Lipshutz said that the representative sounded "very concerned" for Lavigne.

In November 2013, Lavigne released her self-titled fifth studio album, which features the singles "Here's To Never Growing Up" and "Rock N Roll." Afterwards, she toured worldwide in support of the project. Her concert sets continued as recently as August, but the singer has not been spotted in public since her 30th birthday celebration in Las Vegas.
