While fans have waited for several years for the much-antipated Marvel crossover "Avengers: Infinity War," there is also reason to be worried as the upcoming feature film is likely to feature one or more major deaths, according to latest plot rumors.
The Earth's mightiest heroes are set to face their most powerful opponent yet, the Mad Titan known as Thanos (Josh Brolin), and it should be expected that the supervillain will take a few lives in his quest to gather all six Infinity stones.
Everyone in the roster of superheroes in "Avengers: Infinity War" is in danger of being a casualty in Thanos' conquest. At this point, however, the odds are increasing that Steve Rogers, popularly known as Captain America (Chris Evans), will meet his demise in the movie. For one, his fellow cast member, Robert Downey Jr., might have spilled Cap's imminent departure from the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
In an interview with Empire Magazine, Downey said that he would surely miss Evans when he "isn't Cap anymore." It looks like the actor, who plays the metal-plated billionaire Tony Stark/Iron Man, implied that Captain America will be the first one to go before his own character does.
To note, the "Avengers" franchise is not yet over after April's "Infinity War" as there is still one more untitled sequel to be released next year. There is a possibility that Cap will not make it to the fourth "Avengers" film after being killed in "Infinity War."
Further supporting the idea of Captain America's death in "Avengers: Infinity War" is the revived rumor that Evans is finally retiring the character after the movie. Still, Evans' retirement from the MCU has been a constant rumor that has been reported every now and then, even before the premium of 2016's "Captain America: Civil War," but Cap managed to survive and live on up to the much-awaited "Infinity War."
The fans could also feel the danger awaiting Cap in "Avengers: Infinity War" especially after the latest official trailer was released. In the trailer, Captain America can be seen fighting Thanos all by himself, and it looks like the First Avenger is struggling to match the enemy's enormous strength. This is indeed one reason to be concerned about Captain America's fate, although more details will be confirmed in the coming weeks as "Avengers: Infinity War" hits the theaters worldwide on April 27.
