The next installments of James Cameron's "Avatar" might come out earlier than expected, based on the statements released by the film director earlier this month.

In a recorded video aired during the 2015 New York Comic-Con (via Entertainment Weekly) Cameron revealed that he will be collaborating with Dark Horse Comics to come up with a new comic book series that will focus on Neytiri and her next adventures outside the original movie.

"I'm excited that starting now...Dark Horse Comics will be bringing you new adventures from Pandora, covering the time before, during, and after the events of the original Avatar film. ," Cameron said. "Now [Dark Horse is] working directly with me and our team at Lightstorm in an unprecedented ten-year partnership that's going to create new stories that will take you deeper into the world of Avatar."

This could mean that some of the plots that will be discussed in the upcoming installments of the "Avatar" film franchise might be tackled in the soon-to-be released comic book series.

oThis is not the first time that Cameron and Dark Horse Comics agreed to work together to bring his film onto the pages of a comic book series, since his films "Aliens" and "The Abyss" also received the same treatment.

The film director also revealed recently that Stephen Lang will be reprising his role as Col. Miles Quaritch in the next three "Avatar" movies.

Cameron said that Lang's role became very memorable during the original film, and he is very glad to have him back in the franchise. "I'm not going to say exactly how we're bringing him back, but it's a science fiction story, after all. His character will evolve into really unexpected places across the arc of our new three-film saga. I really look forward to working with such a gifted actor, who's also become a good friend," the director recently shared with Deadline.
