Rumors about the upcoming "Attack on Titan" game featuring the same gameplay as that of the "Warriors" franchises appear to have been greatly exaggerated.

In an interview with IGN at Tokyo Game Show, Koei Tecmo games President Hisashi Koinuma suggested that the upcoming game would be different from any other title they have previously released.

For players who may be unfamiliar with the "Warriors" franchises, these games basically involve players using a single character at a time and then hacking and slashing their way through hundreds of enemies on the battlefield.

Koinuma said the upcoming "Attack on Titan" will not be quite as simple, and this time around, players will have to team with their allies on the map to take down what amounts to a single giant opponent at a time.

Koinuma also said fans can expect more aerial-based combat in the "Attack on Titan" game, with the characters utilizing special gear to travel through the air and attack the enemies tactically.

Strategy and speed are also expected to become more fundamental elements of gameplay in the new game, requiring players to make snap decisions regarding how they are supposed to move about on the map.

Aside from talking about the gameplay of the upcoming "Attack on Titan" title, Koinuma also detailed the storyline players can expect during an interview with Kotaku.

He indicated that the first game will stay true to the source material that has been made available to it. However, Koinuma also suggested that future titles from the franchise could branch off on their own and even feature their own "original elements."

It's unclear what changes Koei Tecmo has planned for future "Attack on Titan" games, but the company's president did also say that the franchise will attempt to follow the manga dedicated to the series very closely.
