Asus ZenPad 7 and ZenPad 8 release date, specs; targeted to the affordable tablet market

Asus has been relentless in its campaign to release several mobile products. Thanks to the amount of success that the company has accumulated with sales of its 4 GB RAM Zenfone 2, Android Central has reported that the Taiwanese company has something special planned for tablet enthusiasts. Featuring the model names ZenPad 7 and ZenPad 8, both slates are expected to be unveiled at Commutex 2015, which is expected to kick off from June 2, 2015.

Asus ZenPad 7 will be available to purchase in two models; a Wi-Fi only and Wi-Fi + 3G model. All details of ZenPad 7 have been given below:

  • Z170C: Wi-Fi only for $159 USD
  • Z170CG: Wi-Fi + 3G for $181 USD

As the model name suggests, ZenPad 7 will possess a 7 inch screen that will render the 1024 by 600 resolution. Powering the tablet will be Intel Atom x3, along with 1 GB of RAM inside. Intel x3 happens to be the baseline model of the company's newly released Atom SoC lineup, which is the reason why the tablet carries such a low price tag.

Additionally, the product comes with 8 or 16 GB of expandable storage, along with a 2 MP rear camera and 1.3 MP front camera. Providing the slate with the necessary amount of battery life is a 3900 mAh. The tablet will be available in the following color schemes:

  • Black (Z170C-1A013A)
  • White (Z170C-1B009A)

ZenPad 8 will be the higher performing model, with an 8 inch display resonating a resolution measuring 2048 by 1536 pixels. While specific hardware specifications were not provided, ZenPad 8 will most likely be powered by Intel Atom Z3560 or Z3530. In addition, it will have 2 GB of RAM and will be available to purchase in the 8, 16, 32 and 64 GB internal memory models.

Both tablets are expected to be available during the end of July.
