Leading tech giant Asus announced the Zenphone 2 at the 2015 Consumer Electronics Show, and promised a March release date for the smartphone. And making good on its promise, the company already revealed the Asus Zenphone 2 and its variants in Taiwan this week.

The new line up for the Zenphone series includes: the Zenphone 2 ZE551ML at both 4 GB and 2 GB variants; the ZE550ML; and the ZE500CL.

Asus claimed that the Zenphone 2 will be the smarphone industry's first 4 GB device. The handset is powered by a 64-bit Intel Atom quad-core processor clocking at 2.3 GHz, while the 2 GB variant clocks at 1.8 GHz, the same as the ZE550ML model. The basic model, the ZE500CL, features a 1.6 GHZ dual-core Intel Atom processor. All models support expandable storage via a microSD card.

Sporting a full HD, IPS 5.5-inch display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, all of the Zenphone 2 variants run Asus' new ZenUI based on 5.0 Lollipop. In terms of imaging, the flagship ZE551ML and ZE550ML have 13-megapixel rear cameras with 5-megapixel cameras on the front. The ZE500CL, on the other hand, sports an 8-megapixel rear and 2-megapixel front cameras.

In terms of power, both ZE551ML variants and the ZE550ML have a 3000 mAh battery, and the basic ZE500CL features a 2500 mAh battery. For connectivity, both ZE551ML and ZE550ML models include 4G LTE, dual SIM option, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity. They also have NFC and GPS. The lower version of the Zenphone 2, the ZE500CL, supports 3G connectivity, dual SIM, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth 4.0.

A digital report published by Korean Digitimes says that apart from Taiwan, the new Zenphone 2 will be made available in China, Hong Kong, Singapore, and France starting this month, and markets in other countries will open starting April. It will launch in Brazil in June.
