Apple has already confirmed that it will be showcasing new products next week, as the tech giant sends out press invites for a Sept. 7 event. Speculations suggest that one of the new products is the Apple Watch 2.
While Apple is keeping its presentation plans a secret, industry followers agree that the most likely products to be highlighted on the event are the next iPhone and the Apple Watch 2. The next-gen wearable has already been rumored to come out later this year, and supposed specs and features have already made their way online. According to rumors, this will mark the first major update for the Apple smartwatch since the original Apple watch was launched two years ago, and the Apple Watch 2 is expected to come out with major improvements.
One noted upgrade for the next-gen wearable is an onboard GPS chip, which means that the Apple Watch 2 will be able to use integrated location services. The new wearable is also touted to come out with watchOS 2, as well as better power management. Previously, it is said that the new wearable may also come out with LTE services, though recent reports seem to debunk the rumor. Admittedly, while Apple may already offer better battery usage for the Apple Watch 2, it still has to address battery drain issues should GPS and LTE connectivity be used simultaneously in the device. It is said that the LTE option may come out for the Apple Watch in later updates.
Meanwhile, aside from the Apple Watch 2, it is said that the next iPhone will take center stage next week. Previous speculations placed it to be the iPhone 7. However, recent rumors are making their rounds online, mentioning that since the new smartphone will not have major upgrades, Apple may seem fit to launch it as the iPhone 6 SE instead.
