Apple Watch 2 release date not included in March launch lineup?

Previously, it was reported than Apple is planning a press event this coming March, and that some new items from their upcoming product lineups will be making their first appearances at the said event. According to speculations, a new wearable might come out.

However, recent rumors suggest that Apple is of two minds about this possibility, and eventually, the planned March Apple event may come to pass without the rumored Apple Watch being unveiled.

According to Tech Crunch, while rumors say that the Apple Watch 2 will be launched in March, there was no indication from known components suppliers that the Cupertino-based company has an early 2016 timeline for the wearable.

In an interview with industry follower Matthew Panzarino, Creative Strategies analyst Ben Bajarin mentioned that these supply chains would have shown some movement if a new Watch production and assembly is currently ongoing.

Bajarin said, "With the supply chain cuts from the usual suspects of Apple component providers, the timing does seem suspect for a new product given orders would have taken place in the latter part of 2015 if a new product is shipping first half of 2016."

Meanwhile, the report also mentioned that instead of an all-new Apple Watch 2, the Cupertino-based company might be thinking of releasing a new batch of an improved Apple Watch, complete with minor revisions and improvements. However, this new current-gen Apple Watch may not be considered as a second-gen Apple wearable.

However, while it might seem concrete that the Apple Watch 2 will not be included in the March launch lineups, rumors about an early release of the Apple wearable continue to float online. According to GSM Arena, Apple is reportedly planning on a trial production run for the new wearable starting at the end of the month.

Although this does not mean that the Apple Watch 2 will indeed appear by March, the industry follower added that should this be proven true, then Apple is still thinking of releasing its second-gen wearable this year, even if the Apple Watch 2 fails to appear in two months' time.
