Will Apple replace Google search in its Safari browser?

 Facebook

Apple seems to be slowly severing its dependency on the other services that nearly every iPhone user has gotten used to. While the journey has been more than just unpleasant for the Cupertino tech giant following its egregious attempt to replace Google Maps with its own application, the company has finally started to evolve from its past mistakes. The company's nascent venture happens to be its NFC payment feature called Apple Pay and, currently, it is being rumored that the iPhone maker will be rolling out its own TV service as well as launching its own search engine.

It is also being rumored that Apple may remove Google's search engine in favor of something else. Google's deal with Apple is expected to expire at some point in 2015, and since there are rumors that Apple is working on its own search engine, there could be little hope of renewing it.

However, in 2014, Eddy Cue, Apple's senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, took the time to meet both representatives of Microsoft and Yahoo! in order to hear their pitches regarding which search engine would be the perfect replacement. While this has not been confirmed, it's possible that Apple would be tapping Microsoft since Bing is already being used within Siri and Spotlight on Apple's platform. The partnership with Microsoft will also allow Apple to further polish its rumored search engine before the firm can officially release it to support millions of users.

In 2014, Firefox dropped Google as its default search engine within its browser, too, and incorporated Yahoo's instead.

While Apple has not given any word related to this news, the expiration of Google's contract is only a few months away.
