New iPad Pro updates: 12-inch tablet potential sales not promising

Up to now, little is known about Apple's supposed giant tablet the Internet named the iPad Pro. The device is expected to come in a hefty 12.2- to 12.9-inch screen, and a leaked image of an alleged casing has supported the claims of a large iPad on the way. But even before the Cupertino-based company had confirmed its attempts to build the device, reports are already implying that the iPad Pro will not be the one to save Apple's declining tablet sales.

In a research note formulated by KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, iPad shipments will fail to exceed the expected 45 million units this year, and not even the iPad Pro can do something about the seemingly imminent sales drop. Apple will reportedly bite the dust in terms of its tablet's performance. Kuo believes that a whopping 52.7 drop in sales awaits the tech firm's second quarter. This will leave it to 10.1 million units only. But it does not stop there as Kuo claims that iPad sales will reach the pits in the third quarter, with only 8 million sales.

Kuo noted that the iPad Pro, although brought in with the intentions of improving user experience and long-term productivity, will not be enough to save the day "since its commercialization may fall behind expectations, leaving limited time for shipping. Moreover, we are conservative on promotion, likely executed by Apple (US) or retailers, of existing products due to the lack of innovative applications," KGI Securities detailed, as quoted by 9to5 Mac

There is a reason to fear this predictions as the analyst has a fairly good track record with his Apple-centric predictions. Nevertheless, should Apple take a stab at a jumbo iPad, users expect it to feature a thicker build and display of higher resolution. Speculations also point to a powerful A9 or A9X processor and a whopping 11000 mAh battery, which should outlast each of the tablets in the iPad lineup. Also, there are rumors that it will run OS X Yosemite (which should be a first) and a stylus.
