Andy Hawthorne and LZ7 say it's time to shine

Andy Hawthorne, The Message Trust and their number one schools band LZ7 never do things by half. And with the launch of their brand new campaign – Shine Your Light – and the ramp up for LZ7’s September single, it’s clear that their passion and commitment are higher than ever.

First up, the single. This Little Light Of Mine has become a YouTube sensation, notching up over 110,000 views since going up on the site a little over a year ago. The single itself is surely the best bit of pop to come out of the Church in the last decade, full of bounce and upward energy. And with a new video filmed specially for the single release – as well as national radio interest and all the usual underground support rising up – it’s bound to chart well when it gets unleashed in September.

But that’s not the whole story. The fact is that This Little Light Of Mine is a result not just of some tasty creativity or even some long-standing work in the schools of Greater Manchester. The truth is that This Little Light Of Mine is the soundtrack to nothing less than an underground revolution.

Spearheaded by Andy Hawthorne, Lindz West and the rest of The Message Trust team, the Shine Your Light campaign launches early this summer and aims to unleash the full potential of the nation’s young people. By encouraging them to pledge – and then carry out – up to a set of simple tasks, and then film themselves in action and upload their videos to a main site, the campaign is set to ‘make God famous and make great in 2010’.

Combined with thousands more, this is a perfect opportunity for people to make a difference.

“The whole Shine Your Light initiative and This Little Light release feels like the culmination of a 10 year journey for us as we attempt to make goodness fashionable and God famous in 2010," says Andy.

“The whole band are so excited about the potential of this Jesus centred movement, we just want to play our small part in seeing this nation changed, and are convinced young people will be at the heart of it," says Lindz.
