Although Google is said to be finishing up its newest Android N platform, most devices are yet to receive an update to the current Android Marshmallow version. Tech manufacturers continue to roll out the update, with the least being the lineup iterations from HTC and Huawei.
Just recently, a mid-range lineup iteration from HTC, the Desire 820, has been reported to have started its OTA notification rollout for an Android Marshmallow 6.0.1 update. According to GSM Arena, the 2014 Desire iteration is now being updated to the newest Android version. In addition, HTC is also bringing its Sense UI 7.0 platform to the mid-range lineup device.
However, although the release is expected to be for the global release of the Desire 820, HTC has yet to come out with the area schedules for the rollout. In addition, given that the update is a major one, the Android Marshmallow OTA notification will take some time to come out for all the Desire 820 worldwide, since it will have to be on a staggered release. Nonetheless, owners of the Desire 820 can already manually check if the update is already available in their regions by refreshing the update tabs in the Settings menu.
Android Marshmallow is also being rolled out continuously for newer flagship lineups. For Huawei, the latest Marshmallow release is for its last year, step-down version of the flagship lineup, the P8 Lite. The update has been officially unveiled in the Polish page of the device, and the update is already rolling out in Germany and Poland. It is expected that other European versions will also follow soon. Meanwhile, the software update is also in a staggered release, so it will take weeks before all P8 Lite devices update to Android 6.0. In addition, the update is coming out first to the global, unlocked version of the P8 Lite, with carrier-locked iterations to follow, depending on the mobile operator.
