With the recent release of the newest Nexus devices, people are now anticipating the widespread arrival of the operating system (OS) to other phones from that line, but it appears not all will be receiving the update.

As folks already know, the Marshmallow update can first be seen with the Nexus 5X and 6P, also known as the most recently released devices from Google's own line of smartphones. These phones are now on the market, so those who want to get a hold of the Marshmallow update right now can do so by purchasing one of these.

For those willing to wait just a bit longer, the Marshmallow update is expected to arrive later on to other Nexus phones.

According to the official Android Blog, there are already four other Nexus devices that are in line to receive the update. Those units include the Nexus 5, 6, and 7 (2013) and also the Nexus 9. The Nexus Player is also expected to receive the update soon.

It's unclear exactly when the Marshmallow update will be specifically arriving for these units, but the good news is that it will arrive as an over the air download, making things easier for those who want to get it installed and enjoy its features right away.

As for the Nexus devices currently not expected to receive the Marshmallow update, according to Neurogadget, owners of the Nexus 4, 7 (2012), and 10 should not be making any plans to make any major downloads any time soon.

Google has not stated why some of their Nexus phones are currently not in line to receive the Marshmallow update.

Once the Android Marshmallow update arrives for the Nexus units in line to get it, other smartphones should be receiving the new OS soon after as well.

LG has reportedly already begun listing the Marshmallow software as an option in their support pages for the LG G3 and G4, so they may be getting the update soon.
