LG G3 to receive Android 6.0 M update

Although Google has already released the new Android Marshmallow platform and already rolling out the 6.0.1 version, some Android-run device owners are still waiting for the base Android 6.0 update. Good news to LG G3 users is that the South Korean company may already be getting ready to roll out Android Marshmallow to their devices.

According to Phone Arena, the earlier rumors that the LG G3 will be receiving an Android 6.0 update before the year ends seem to be on track. The company recently released the source code for the platform on the company's developer website. This means that the build itself is already finished and the soak tests are most likely done.

In addition, the source code posted is for the international version of the LG G3, with model number D855. The industry follower added that the earlier rumors pointed to LG updating its international version of the G3 during the middle of December, which means users might receive an OTA update notifications to their LG G3 anytime soon.

Meanwhile, owners of locked and carrier-specific versions, such as the LG G3 model D855K or D855P, will need to wait a little longer for their Android Marshmallow versions, noted Android Authority.

The reports on the G3's imminent switch to Marshmallow came just right after LG started rolling out the Android 6.0 update to its current flagship, the LG G4, for both international and unlocked versions.

When the LG G3 receives its Android Marshmallow update, it will be skipping Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. However, this is not new for LG, which already announced earlier in the year that the LG G3 will jump directly to Android 6.0 from Android 5.0. In addition, the company also previously updated the LG G3 to Android 5.0 Lollipop from the native Android 4.4.2 KitKat, jumping over the 4.4.3 and 4.4.4 versions.
