With Google recently announcing the impending arrival of the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update, people have begun looking into what they will be getting from the newest operating system (OS).

Arguably the most anticipated new feature from the Marshmallow update will be Android Pay. Android Pay is basically Google's follow-up attempt to the Google Wallet in that it has been touted as a way for users to make mobile payments not unlike the Apple Pay feature.

According to CNet, Android Pay will work by users tapping their smartphones on specified card readers at selected stores. From there, users will simply have to follow a few instructions and they will then be able to complete their transaction.

Interestingly enough, even though Android Pay will in essence be taking the place of Google Wallet, the latter service will not be removed, and it will instead be retooled to specifically handle smaller financial transactions.

Another new feature Android fans can look forward to via the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update is Google Now on Tap. Android users are likely to already be familiar with Google's personal assistant known as Google Now, and the new feature simply provides more functionality to the already existing component of the OS. By using Google Now on Tap, people can now press its corresponding button and immediately bring up information about a certain topic even in the middle of texting.

Even though the Android Pay and Google Now on Tap features look to be promising, they would not be too useful if people's devices are still running out of power way too quickly, and the 6.0 update seeks to address this as well.

According to Cheat Sheet, the latest update will also be introducing the feature known as Doze. The new feature will help enhance the energy efficiency of the Android device through motion sensors that will be detecting whether or not the phone is being used.

These are just some of the new features people can expect from the Android 6.0 Marshmallow update when it is officially launched.
