While some tech manufacturers are still waiting in line for their own builds of the latest Android 6.0 platform, HTC announced that its One A9 flagship is ready to receive the first Android Marshmallow update, 6.0.1 version. In addition, it seems that the premium HTC One M9 will also jump to Android Marshmallow before the year ends.

According to Android Central, HTC's Mo Versi confirmed via a Twitter update that the HTC One A9 will receive its Android 6.0.1 update later this month. Meanwhile, the One M9 flagship is also slated for a December Android Marshmallow update.

The HTC One A9 was one of the first devices to come with Android M right out of the box. Because of this, GSM Arena mentioned that HTC seems to be on a roll regarding Android updates, as the One A9 will also be among the first non-Nexus devices to get the very first Android Marshmallow update. Just hours after the release of the new update, HTC has already lined up a rough plan for releasing the update to its Android M flagship.

The industry follower also noted that Versi and his team at HTC might have been following up on an promise made during the flagship's launch – Android M updates for the One A9 will roll out within 15 days of Nexus devices getting it.

As for the One M9, while HTC did not give a specific release date for the Android M rollout, Versi did promise that the update would be a December one, meaning owners of the flagship iteration will be getting it before the year ends.

Observers have noted that the rollout may come even before the holidays since HTC has been hard at work building its different Android M versions for different lineups. The One M9's predecessor, the One M8, already got its Android Marshmallow build for both the Google Play Edition and unlocked versions. It should be noted, though, that the One M9 December Android M update will only be for the unlocked versions of the device. For a carrier-specific Marshmallow rollout, users of both the One A9 and One M9 may look forward to an early 2016 release, by January at the earliest.
