A new Android OTA update has been released recently for some select devices, bumping up their Android versions to Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.

The devices concerned include the Nexus 9, Samsung Galaxy Note Edge, Motorola and the Sony Xperia Z series (Build number LRX22L), carrying minor updates which should resolve some bugs from the previous Android OS version.

Of course, this update is considered small though it obviously prepares the said devices for the next big Android jump to 5.1. which remains under wraps for now.

For the Nexus 9, the update should suffice for now though word has it that it will most likely receive the Android 5.1 update in the coming months. The thing is that other Nexus devices could most probably be up a notch by that time, expected to run on the Android 5.2 Lollipop.

Sony Xperia devices will be getting a bump to Android 5.0.1. The update will help make things easier for folks who want to transfer data from their internal storage to the microSD card plus other enhancement to messaging in Ultra Stamina mode. The update is also expected to fix the no-service bug when in lock and home screen mode.

Other devices getting an Android bump include the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge. Among the features to expect include new locked screen notifications, the Material Design and improved UI.

For Motorola users, a large update will reportedly bring back 'Silent Mode' which disappeared on Android 5.0. It will also improve system stability, RAM management and fixing the sudden closures of apps.

For concerned mobile phone owners, it would be best to keep an eye out if the OTA is already available. Make sure you frequently check your phone's settings and/or update to be sure.

When downloading, again, make sure that you have a stable internet connection and a properly charged device (at least 80%).
