Fun-loving Duggar cousin Amy and her husband Dillon King are going to return to reality TV, but not in the way fans are expecting.
The Christian couple are not going to make an appearance on the Duggar family's new TLC show "Counting On." Rather, they will be joining Season 7 of WE TV's reality show "Marriage Boot Camp: Reality Stars." It will premiere on Jan. 6, 2017 on Friday at 9 p.m. ET and 8 p.m. CT, according to the Duggar Family Blog.
The Kings will be joining a cast comprising of "troubled reality star couples" from the shows like "The Bachelorette," "Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta," "Bad Girls Club," and "Mob Wives."
They will be joining the show after only seven months of marriage. At first, "their lack of respect for each other is apparent," according to a press release. However, things started to change after they were counseled by therapists Dr. Ish Major and Dr. Venus Nicolino. In the end, all of the reality TV couples who joined the show will decide whether to "stay together or go their separate ways."
Amy has already appeared in several episodes of "17 Kids and Counting," "18 Kids and Counting," and "19 Kids and Counting." She also made appearances in TLC specials such as "A Big Announcement," "A Duggar Leaves Home," and "Amy's Nashville Dreams."
Jim Bob and Michelle's daughters are all reserved and uphold their parents' strict courtship rules. Amy, on the other hand, chooses to do things her way. Because of this, she became known as the "Rebel Duggar."
Amy earlier said in an interview that she never aspired to be labelled that way. "That isn't necessarily what I want to be known as. What makes me a rebel? I love the Lord and I love my family. I'm just not born to live exactly the way they do," Amy told PEOPLE.
"For me, growing up was all about shorts, tank tops, country songs and boyfriends," she said. "I think kissing before marriage should happen."
These are things that her uncle and aunt Jim Bob and Michelle Duggar prohibit their own girls from indulging in. Amy said her alleged rebellious streak must have stemmed from there.
"I became known as the rebellious one without even really being rebellious," she said, pointing out that "I was a church leader and went to Christian school all my life."
