Aaron Carter receives multiple misdemeanor charges for driving under the influence back in July. This happens just a few days after the former teen icon left a rehabilitation center.
According to reports, Georgia prosecutors filed a DUI refusal charge against Carter earlier this month. He was also charged for possession of less than an ounce of marijuana as well as of other drug-related objects. The former musician will have to attend the Georgia Habersham County court to face the charges.
In July, Carter was arrested for suspicion of driving under the influence as well as pot possession. With him then as passenger was his girlfriend Madison Parker, who was also brought into custody for drug-related offense.
The 29-year-old was released the following day, after setting a $4,610 bail.
Carter has had a long history of drug abuse, which goes way back in 2005. According to E! News, the singer shared in a years-old interview that he was "introduced to a lot of different things at a very early age." He added that marijuana was mostly his problem.
At the age of 15, a photo of him and a friend smoking what looked a lot like weed was published on the front cover of The National Enquirer. Carter said this almost ruined his career.
"I ended up going to the Betty Ford Center, you know, to go and just like take a break and try to just like, you know, figure out how to get myself healthy and together."
That, however, was neither the last time he got caught nor the last time he had to check into a treatment facility.
Carter spent the last two months in a rehabilitation center as a result of his latest DUI bust.
Despite the recent charges, Carter seems to be ready to move on with his life. A recent Instagram post shows the musician back in the studio.
