A Time for Everything

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven.

Ecclesiastes 3: 1

A survey by a popular newspaper found that most UK citizens would prefer to have more money than to have more time, and 78 percent found to prefer longer hours rather than have less money.

|PIC1|Londoners have a non-stop schedule everyday running from early morning all the way till night.

Computers, mobile phones and mortgages are constantly keeping people busy, and 34 percent of interviewees stating that they do not have any time at all to simply do nothing.

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday... the repetitive life goes on, then finally Sunday comes. While this sacred day should be set aside by God for rest, sadly, 75 percent of people say Sunday is now no different from any other.

The survey tells us that 70 percent of people carry out no spiritual practices at all.

Let's look at the quotes from Ecclesiastes 3: 1- 8,

"There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace."

Obviously, apart from working, God set apart for us a time for resting. King Solomon queries us:

"What does the worker gain from his toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on men. He has made everything beautiful in his time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end."

The true wisdom of life is to understand this wisdom that mankind is limited and restricted by what we can do, and rather fix our eyes on what is eternal...

Ecclesiastes 12: 1
"Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come..."

Ecclesiastes 3: 12

"I know that there is nothing better for men than to be happy and do good while they live. That everyone may eat and drink, and find satisfaction in all his toil - this is the gift of God."

Life itself is beautiful. But it is not only about work but a journey in which we can walk and co-work with God. It is He who makes all things beautiful in His time, just as the butterfly transforms and emerges from its larvae to an elegant creature flying in the air.

London's busy bees are buzzing around you restlessly, but don't forget to give yourself a breath of fresh air from the pulse of the city's crazy struggles...
