3 Ways to 'Make Christmas Great Again'

Christmas is coming up real fast, and many people are wondering how to celebrate their Christmas break. For many, it's a time to go home to family; to some, it's a time to spend in church; to others, it's a time to give to the needy. All these are great ideas, but there are better ideas than those.

And all it takes is to put "Christ" in the centre of it all.

Do you want to make Christmas great again? Here are some great ideas.

1. Go Back to Christ This Christmas

The first Christmas happened because Christ was born. Without Him, there's no Christmas at all. Christ is the only reason for celebrating Christmas. It's because of Him alone.

One way to celebrate Christmas is to go back to Christ. How's your commitment to Him? How's your walk as a Christ-follower? Christmas should remind us that Christ came to die for our sakes – and it should remind us that our lives are nothing if it's not for Him.

2. Celebrate God's Mercy with Your Family

People go home to their families to partake of that Christmas dinner, but not all families remember to thank God for His mercy when, out of His great love, He sent His one and only begotten Son to save us. What better way to celebrate Christmas with your family than to thank God for Jesus together?

God sent Jesus in the form of a baby born of a virgin. In doing this, God actually emphasised the importance of family: Jesus was born a normal human being, and was taken care of by His earthly parents Mary and Joseph. This couple knew that Emmanuel, or Jesus, is God's own Son and provision for salvation.

Take time to share God's love to your family members. Thank God for Jesus, who died more than 33 years after the first Christmas for our salvation.

3. Share God's Love to Others

Many of us celebrate Christmas by giving gifts to others. While sharing our belongings is a good and beneficial thing to do, sharing the love of God in the gospel of Christ is and will always be the greatest gift we can ever give.

More than just feeding the hungry or giving gifts to the poor, choose to speak God's love into the lives of the people you approach. Tell them that God loved them so much that He sent Christ to save them (and us). Christ came for our salvation, and that is the reason why we have Christmas.
