2017 Nissan Titan release date: Titan XD's younger sibling specs, features, and price

Nissan Titan's big brother, Titan XD Nissan USA

The Nissan Titan XD pickup truck was introduced last year and it is said to be the star of the Titan series. It was also said that after the XD, a new more conventional Titan will be unveiled — and that's just what happened at the 2016 Chicago Auto Show last week.

The new 2017 Nissan Titan is the younger sibling of the Nissan Titan XD. Both carry the same body design and powertrain that produce 390 horsepower; they also share the same 5.6-liter V8 engine.

Although these two commanding pickup trucks share a lot of characteristics, the half-ton truck is nothing like its bulkier sibling when it comes to details under the skin.

According to Car and Driver, the Titan and the XD also have comparable cab, cabin, and bed bits, but according to Nissan North America's Rich Miller, "When it comes to the frame and the chassis, they don't share a single bolt." "Even the lug nuts are different," Miller added.

Specifically, the chassis is 14.7 inches shorter than the XD, but the former has the same width as the latter.

The Titan also depends on the power coming from the seven-speed automatic transmission. CNET also reported that the Titan comes in different configurations. It has three different cabins and three various bed lengths. It is also offered in five different trims: S, SV, PRO-4X, SL, and Platinum.

Having a close resemblance to the Titan XD can also have disadvantages for the Titan half-ton. Some think that the outer appearance of the Titan XD, which the Titan adopted, is not too impressive. There were previous expectations the Titan would be given a different facade, but not a lot of changes have been seen.

The upcoming Nissan Titan will be put together in Canton, Mississippi, with its engine to be assembled in Tennessee. As for the pricing, Nissan has not released any details, but the Titan is expected to arrive to dealerships this summer.
